James Cousler is a dedicated healthcare professional and fitness enthusiast. As the newest addition to Sports PT Lab, he brings a profound passion for health and wellness and over 10 years of expertise in fitness, strength and conditioning, and sports performance.

James's educational journey culminated in a doctorate in Physical Therapy and a master’s in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University in 2023. With advanced training in sports performance, including credentials like Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Dry Needling, and Graston, he's well-equipped to address the diverse needs of his patients.

What sets James apart is his personal experience on the patient side of physical therapy. A career-ending injury during his college football career provided him with unique insights into the challenges of rehabilitation, instilling in him both perspective and empathy when working with his patients. James's own journey of recovery enables him to seamlessly guide his patients through the entire rehabilitation process, from the initial stages to getting back on the pitch, court, road, or in the water, tailoring his care to each patient's unique journey.

Outside of his professional pursuits, James is an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, biking, playing sports, and training and participating in triathlons and obstacle course races. Currently, he's focusing on plyometrics, emphasizing that health and wellness encompass more than just lifting weights and running. James believes that everyone’s health journey begins with holistic self-care, including quality sleep, nutrition, and activities that are both challenging and fun.
